flight fright
naturally, i’m excited about my upcoming trip to manila. but angst is also up there. just a few weeks ago, j’s cousin got sick in manila during their vacation. amoebiasis. the son of a cyber-friend of mine contracted UTI and was nursing a fever on their way back to australia. and as if that isn’t enough to make me paranoid, hubby is constantly reminding me to “please take care”. never have those words carried so much responsibility as now. it’s no longer the half-empty goodbye phrase you haphazardly dish out. it’s loaded and it’s making me worried like hell. if there’s anything that would dampen this holiday like a wet blanket, it’s j getting sick. so please, please, all the saints in heaven reading this blog (huh?), banish all those pathogens from our paths. pleeease, i promise… i promise… um, pwede IOU’s?

hey! good morning;). don’t worry too much or else you will not enjoy your vacation there completely. just be wary of the food and water. food, meaning, di na pwedeng basta na lang point-point ;), you know what i mean. for you siguro okay lang, but not for j. don’t get me wrong, masarap kumain sa point-point. used to do it when i was still studying. just be careful for your child’s health. water, what i did, we only drank bottled water and even then i put these tiny little tablets called Micropur in it first, before drinking.
when exactly are you leaving nga pala?

even the bottled water daw is no longer reliable, eh. tapos, j is used to picking up mga nahulog na food off the floor, sabay subo. which is fairly ok dito as long as the floor is dry. pero dun?
we’re off friday pm. nasa airport ka then?

hey! relax mommy… i know your worries are valid, we were like that nung umuwi kami. i guess you just have to trust na stronger ang immune system ngayon ni jp mo…
nga pala, when we went home, we had to take seb to a doctor din. she advised us na wilkins daw ang safest brand ng water sa atin. and make sure daw na yung sa mercury (or big establishments) bumili kasi marami raw fake..

Magbottled water ka na lang. I’m sure naman your folks are drinking mineral water na. Matagal na kasing hindi dependable ang tap water, kahit pakuluan pa siya. And don’t forget to bring OFF Lotion. Sabagay, meron naman nyan sa Manila. Mainit kasi kaya di mo puwedeng balutin si J kaya to protect him from mosquitos, importante ang OFF.
Take care and may you stay protected.

hey ruthie, don’t worry about it. just be careful with your water intake. Si simon nga eh he’s got a sensitive tummy pero surprisingly, he didn’t get any tummy bug at all in all of his trips to Manila.

Hi Ruth!
I am green with envy. (Sigh) I would love to go back to the Philippines, even just for a few weeks. My Mom is going back in May to attend my youngest sister’s graduation from UP-PGH (med school). I wish I could go, but of course, with my due date looming in the horizon, it’s a pipe dream for now. My Mom and sister will be visiting with me in June, though, just after the baby is born, so that’s something to look forward too!
Have fun, and DON’T GET SICK!
