if a picture paints a thousand words…

it’s the start of the week, i can’t think of anything to blog, so please, humor my being the stage mother yet once more… here’s one of jan’s first output with dabbing at fingerpaints. i took the priviledge of giving this a title - proof positive of what a stage-mom i am, haha!
“Pusteblume” (a flower which easily sheds its pollens when the wind blows).
completed in january 2004, at age 16 months.
fingerpaint on paper (soon i’ll get him doing oils on canvass, promise, hahaha!).

Uy walang biro, mala-Picasso yan ah. Did Jan paint that all by himself?

yes, karen, he did it all by himself. although i have to admit, it was all just by accident. and it was me who cried “hold it!” when i saw what he made. had i let him, he would just have gone on swishing his paintbrush here and there (but then, sometimes, i think picasso did just that, too, hehehe…).

It could be kind of monet-ish too….the pastel color…and…yong style ng pag paint hehe. It’s very very cute.

This looks like one of my paintings! If I still had the gallery, I would get this exhibited in one of the shows! Develop that talent…

jo, i was thinking of the same. but was mixing him up with manet. darn, i should have paid more attention to that humanities class!
jh, that was a BIG compliment coming from an artist. am not sure whether jan deserves it, though, since i think it was all accident given his age. WHEN does one know if it’s real talent?

I agree with Jo, could be Monet-ish too. Hmmm… who knows by the time Jan is 5 he’s perfected his sfumato! Hehehe!

Jan is a natural! Nothing is by accident… Techniques can be learned but a true artist have his own way with the brush… It’s all about what’s inside… You need to nurture that development and as I can see, you do!!! Kudos!

so cool! :o)
i’m sure it’s not an accident–i find kids tend to have a natural talent to create such wonderful pieces of art, because they don’t have their consciousness to hinder them. they just let their feelings flow and let the hand do all he work.
i agree with the others..nurture the talent!!
