spam comments
arrrgh! i opened my blog to find 92 (!) comments from spammers. bwiseeeet! do you know how long it takes to rid my blog of 92 f*cking comments that sell things i’m sure no reader of this blog is interested in? diet pills, diabetic pills, viagra, etc? which reader of mine would be interested in clicking on offers of incest sites, rape pictures, and brutal mastication (whatever that is!)?

hi ruthie. ask melissa to load MT-BLACKLIST to your Movable Type blog. it’s fairly easy to install. believe me it works.

just follow the easy step by step directions. ever since i started it got almost all my spam, save for 1 or 2 that got away. you can update this as well from time to time quite easily.

Hay Ruthie: I forgot to mention it to you guys last Sunday pero meron din akong nakuhang spammer…online-casino.com blah blah..since di ko alam tong sinasabi ni BatJay pa eh I just blocked the IP.
Try ko na din siguro to play around with this MT blacklist thing.

thess: i’ve no idea. my comments page allows anybody to comment. i don’t know if i could restrict it without hampering valid comments from new visitors.

justice: i also have that casino ad, pero at least yon, pa-isa-isa lang; madaling i-delete. kaso today, susmio, 92 comments ba naman all over my archived entries! asar! mahabang explanation, but IP-banning won’t work.

you can block the ip address but it will just be a stop gap measure that is not effective dahil these guys use different ip addresses.
MT black list for movable type is by far the best option to stopping spam. the nice thing about this is that they do the filtering for you and so you just need to update the list from time to time. to date, MT-Blacklist have blocked over 1,800 spammers in my site.
