the week that was
this blog has been sleeping the last few days while the owner spent most of her mornings at doctor’s waiting rooms. at least, both ears are again telebabad-fit, hahaha! got another check-up tomorrow, though; hopefully the last one.
***
friday saw the whole family at the pedia. it’s jan’s regular check-up and as with all important pedia appointment, hubby was with us. i prepared jan for the visit to the doc, but that did not prevent him from looking at the guy skeptically (suspiciously?). milestones reached were checked, weight and height measured, speech and motor skills tested.
doc’s assistant: “can he step jump, walk backwards, climb stairs assisted?”
parents: “yes.”
d a: “speaks two-word sentences?”
p: “even more.”
d a: ” helps with chores, plays with other kids?”
p: “yes.”
d a: “follows two-step instructions?”
p: “er…. well… yes.”
CAN and WILL are two different things.

do you realize how much manhours are wasted in doctors’ waiting rooms? you haggle for an appropriate appointment (no, i’m only free in the mornings; no, that’s too late…) and then you still spend about an hour waiting for your turn, anyway. i’ve had to go the the HNO every single day the last week and whenever i could (which was only twice, unfortunately), i tried to secure the first slot in the morning. that’s the only way you can be sure your bum wouldn’t be half-locked into your chair, leafing through the entire year’s issues of geo, country living, and cosmopolitan. well, if the doctor comes on time, that is. they could at least make the waiting rooms a bit more comfortable and less, um, clinical, can’t they?

hi ruthie! glad you’re feeling better now. dito naman sa NZ, we don’t wait at doctor’s clinics that long (well, dun sa aming family doctor ha), usually 20 minutes tops and the clinics looks like a house (well, it’s a house converted to a clinic)! Siguro kasi konti lang tao dito kaya konting hintay lang sa clinics (or surgeries as they call it here) hehe

Unfortunately, I’ve had several bad experiences at doctor’s offices, sometimes with the doc’s themselves. So when I find a seemingly caring doctor like mine right now, I hang on to them!

True ka diyan sa man hours.
I use my waiting time as the perfect time to daydream.

salamat mang batjay. eggless ka pa rin?
justice, ako, cosmo? hopeless!
cg, nakakatakot naman yung term: surgeries. but that’s “old” english, right? pero tama ka, i think matagal hintay dito kasi we live within the city, ergo, more patients.
pinayhekmi, i agree! if it’s not the doctors, soemtimes it’s the technicians/clerks!
toni: ah yeah, daydreaming!!! i call it workout for the brain, hehehe… except that it’s a bit difficult to do if you’re waiting in pain.

Dito hindi matagal ang waiting time ng mga pasyente sa doctors’ clinics, kundi SOBRANG TAGAL! Most doctors come late or are doing their rounds before attending to their outpatients. Opkors, nobody questions them or complains.
I don’t agree though. Patients are clients. I try my best to be early and apologize whenever I’m late.

ooops, beep-beep, doc emer. hehe, buti na lang pala hindi ko masyadong tinira ang mga doctor, hehe. pero question ko lang, doc emer: bakit yung ibang docs, parang priority pa yung mga medreps kesa sa patients? di bale sanang maghintay if you know that the doc is attending to another needy patient, pero chatting with medreps? naman!

Because (sorry if it took me this long to reply, ok?), they got a lot of GOODIES in store for these doctors. Tip ko sa yo, magdala ka din ng goodies para mauna ka. But that would be some sort of bribery, right? Well, its a sad world.
I can assure you though that yours truly belong to the group of doctors who try their best minimizing patients’ waiting time.
