winter wonderland? yeah, right.
when outdoor temperatures start dipping below 10°C, that means …
…jan would need new winter shoes, new winter boots and a new snowsuit. everything else from last year is history.
…it’s time to change the car’s summer wheels to winter wheels. oh shit, we need new winter wheels this year!
…christmastime is fast approaching (read: buy gifts!)
…get myself a new anorak. my old one retired last winter.
aaaargh, for families like us living on tight purse strings, the start of winter can be hard on the budget. but just as luck would have it, i’ve landed another small research project for the next two months. i won’t earn heaps, but that would ease it a bit. so, let’s see: jan, car, christmas and me. in that order. in that order??? ouch!

If it’s any comfort to you, as I write this, the outside temp is -3C. It’s supposed to go up to a high of 6C - mamayang alas tres pa ‘to. (http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?yyc)
‘Tsaka ang gastos namin for children’s winter stuff (children’s lang, take note!) nagsimula na noong early october pa.
Thank God for small blessings like that research project that landed on your lap.

ruth, you lucky b! wish i could have some research projects to contribute to the expense-shaving in the house. i know exactly how you feel about budgeting and all, esp in these winter months. i’m so darn lucky that the pinays in brussels always give me kids’ clothes from their amo’s. i’m not choosy
plus the clothes are branded pa, kaya super bonus!
kami ni S nga lang, we want to treat ourselves in the next 2 months to decent winter coats para hindi naman kami mukang charity case.
galing mo ruthie!

thanks, shy m. buti na nga lang, we had a relatively mild autumn kaya pwede paunti-unti ang shopping. where in canada are you na nga?
svelte, jan also gets hand-me-downs from friends and his cousin sa pinas. hindi naman ako maarte, pero parang hindi pa rin ako comfortable pag galing sa strangers eh, or from fleamarkets. ok lang pag siguro pag toys or furniture. pero parang feeling ko clothes are too personal. hm, maarte ba ako?
jing naku yang dry cleaning also means €! ukay-ukay? eh di sa flohmarkt!
CG, at least it’s nice to know na kahit kami ay nanginginig sa lamig dito, hindi tayo lahat nagsu-sufer, hehe… enjoy your summerdays!
mrs14, no frills ang boys? naku, that’s a misconception. dami ding ek-ek ang boys. yung nga lang, kaming parents ang no-frills, hehe. syempre: no budget, no frills!

we find it boring at times actually but it works to our advantage that we have mostly sunny weather here in sing. i can imagine the yearly expenses on winter clothes and shoes. bigat nga sa budget!
anyway, congrats on your new research project!
