’twas a week before christmas…
how do you choose gifts for your very loved ones? if it’s just for acquaintances and officemates, it’s so easy: grab something useful, or something that ain’t, it doesn’t matter. a book, a pen, a photo frame, a jazz cd. a pair of funny winter socks or a coffee mug. anything will do. it’s the thought that counts, anyway.
but of all people, hubby is the person i find most difficult thinking of a gift for (sus, german sentence construction with english words, haha!).
sure, there are lots he needs. like a suit for his defense next year. but that’s way out of my reach. or a well-deserved holiday to the tropics. also way out of my reach.
he has a long list of book wish list, most of which are books about the philippines: headhunters by david howard, culture smart philippines, a picture book called burning heart, among them…
but a single lone book cannot be IT. it’s christmas.
a shirt? a bottle of cologne? a pair of pyjamas? nah. sounds too… practical.
cufflinks? a watch? nah. too… gaudy.
hm. what tangible present can you offer someone you’ve vowed to love and spend your whole life together with? what greater gift can i give to a person than the promise to be by his side as we weather the storms life will deal us? what gift would not pale in comparison to the priviledge of nurturing our child together? what gift would convey all these promises?
aaaaargh! at this rate, most probably, i’ll end up giving the guy something as imaginative as a safety pin.

wear a birthday or x mas suit and wrap yourself…hehehhe thats the most expensive gift he can ever have. alam mo yon , the idea of recycling the gift, the one he already got gets better and better and better

naku mang batjay, my hubby is the least gadget-inclined male i know. he probably doesn’t even know what an iPod is.
jing, recycled me? ok yun ah. except that he gets that any other day anyway, hehe…
yes, toni. half a dozen books and things that i think are too… functional. too practical. daily stuff i can get him even without an occassion. e pasko, dapat something big, right?

relate ako! i am super late with my christmas shopping, but then for darling hubby, i make it a point to start shopping for him a few months before december. i agree with batjay with the iPod, let him learn something new this year. books are also great, and jing’s idea? well, trust jing to come up with great ones…and you can also throw in some love coupons…make some “free one hour massage” coupons that he can redeem from you, or “favorite meal” coupon, etc…the possibilities are endless…my husband will be getting an electronic dictionary, several books, cds, an orange necktie (hehehe..wla kasi siyang orange eh!) and some underwear…medyo boring ang choices ko ngayon because i lack the moolah to give him what he wants (a 50 inch LCD television!–sira ulo, ano?) anyway, sabi nga nila..it is the thought that counts…merry christmas!

banana: hah! i can officially declare that as of yesterday, i’m done with christmas shopping. i ended up buying things that are “functional”; we’ve got several in common, haha! and yes, books are staple to us!
shucks, ako rin, am lusting for an LCD tv, too! hehe. not too big kasi liit lang naman flat namin. but that has to remain a wish muna this year, mahal eh! haaay…
