a scam, alright!
this morning, i was irritated. now, i am fuming mad! i just got off the phone from an overseas call to my parents and i am still racking my brains for a memory of a certain fr. glenn cosico but bad as my memory is, i know i have never met a man of that name in recent history. this cretin went to my parents and told them an elaborately spinned tale that he’s going to take his vows at the end of the month and that i promised him estola which he should collect from my parents. to cut the story short, this “holy man” just swindled 9 thousand pesos out of my parents’ pocket. dammit. i don’t even know what the f*ck an estola is. and blame my parents’ trust for anything or anyone from the church. or allegedly from the church. grrrrr, they didn’t even bothered to confirm it from me before they handed the money over!!!!! my dad limply said, “he’s going to be a priest. he calls you ate ruth. he said you knew his father.” tales, tales tales! heck, if that low-life regularly reads this blog, he might even be able to map out my ovulation cycle for you. *shudder*
arrrgh! why am i such a liar-magnet these days?!?

Is that a new modus operandi, maybe? People with relatives abroad should be careful then. Hope your parents are feeling okay now. Grabe ano..?

bagong version ng budol-budol yan ah, still aimed at old people, matagal nang minamanmanan nyang taong yan ang parents mo i bet. these people prey on the trusting souls and forgetful minds of old people, saying don’t u remember me ako yung anak ni so and so, kamusta ka na nanay etc. one such person managed to divest my in-laws of their month’s pension plus money my hubby sent them, in the span of a few minutes.

Shucks! Scam nga talaga yan! I had an uncle-priest who was supposedly going around for donations, 80s pa ito. At that time, he was in an assignment out of the country!
My gulay! At sobra yang scammer na yan, tama si Catsudon, PhP 9,000.00 is too expensive! Kabibili ko lang last year ng isang set of 5 stoles, PhP 2,600. Sorry Ruth, I hope you’re feeling better, and I hope your parents are too.

call ‘em the scum of the earth! mahirap na talaga ang buhay. kawawa naman ang parents mo.

kups talaga yung gunggong na yon (pardon my french)! he delivered the clincher: “ang bilin lang po sa akin ni ate ruth eh lagi kayong isali sa aking mga panalangin.” pucha, it’s surprising my mother would probably even raised 90, 000 kung kailangan, hehe. he did not only hit the sentimentality spot, he even made it sound that i’m becoming the good catholic my parents must be praying novenas for to happen. sabi ko nga sa nanay ko: “ako pa? ako pa ba ang magdo-donasyon sa mga esto-estola na yan?!”
oh well. bambit was right. he did it very quickly, wala nang time mag-isip.

February 25th, 2005 at
Estola? 9 thousand eh mura lang tela nun. Wedding gown pede pa ganun kamahal….mabilaukan sana yung kumakain ng nakaw niya.
February 25th, 2005 at
February 25th, 2005 at
psst, rhada…ndi crayola…estola! hehehe magkatunog lang sila.

naku naman yan…
your parents should really have confirmed with you first… but you know how Pinoy oldies are with the Church nga…
but they should have some sort of an inkling na at least… a person doesn’t deserve to be a priest if he’s gonna go around asking people money for things he was supposedly promised with…
nakakainis nga yan!!! andaming tao talagang isi-swindle ka to their heart’s content
