the best about blogging
it’s been more than a year since i’ve started this blog. i’ve changed urls four times: from blogspot, to upsaid, to pinayexpat.com and now to pinayexpat.net. it has never been a smooth path, this blogging adventure. there were times i questioned my purpose of being here. there were times i wanted to stop, not knowing why i’m doing what i do. this statement sums it best:
let me sustain the notion that i write to express
for i shall be self-compelled to stop if i realize that i’ve been writing to impress (source unknown).
i treasure each comment left by readers on this blog. i am too vain to do away with the comment area, because feedbacks from readers are my only affirmation that i have an audience. what good would ranting do, if no one would be listening? what good would putting your thoughts on a public space if no one would read them?
on the other hand, it is not only in writing that i derive joy in blogging. if or when the comments stop coming, i would probably still continue blogging. because the best part of blogging are the relationships you build with other bloggers. like real-life friendships, they take time. they may wax and wane. but given the chance to ripen, the friendships borne out of blogging are as valuable and the joys can last you a long, long time.

thank you for the opportunity for friendship, ruth. i know we still have a long way to go before we can really say “we’ve arrived” as friends, but i know we’ll get there - and I hope we get there sooner than later

Ruthie, happy anniv! So many people celebrating their blog annivs ha (like Jet) when I don’t even remember exactly when I started blogging (I do remember the year).
I like the quote you put up here too. There was a time (there are still times) that I question the wisdom of ranting in cyberspace especially when you unwittingly expose yourself to a whole lot of people (as if madami nagbabasa sa akin hahahahaha), but what the heck, I love blogging que ako lang nagbabasa or si Ruthie hahahaha

That is so, so true Ruth. When you really think of it, writing and sharing your thoughts is only half the picture. The other half are your readers and how you relate to them. And then you can throw in making friends, lifelong friends, amongst them. It’s very much possible.
