once, i met a mother in my son's baseball team who was breastfeeding her 5-year-old! i was shocked but i guess i shouldn't judge. one of my biggest regrets is not drinking more milk when i was younger. if you don't drink it from infancy, it definitely is an acquired taste. i think most of the lactose-intolerant filipino adults are just not used to the taste.

It's really appalling how breastfeeding in the Philippines is equated to being poor. Kaya kahit hindi ma-afford o 'di naman kailangan, formula na lang. Tsk, there goes the kinabukasan ng bayan...

jing, if you have lactose INTOLERANCE, that's different from milk allergy. you still can eat yoghurt, for example and lactose-free milk. pero if you like soyamilk, good for you. it's naturally rich in oestrogen-like hormones! ok para sa mga masusungit na may menopausal tendencies, hehe...
