it’s a pain no italian gelato can heal
i never imagined i would, but i do feel the pain. i especially hurt for lahm, with left arm still in a cast, face mottled by bruises in varying shades of green, purple and red. and all in vain. gee, i don’t want to be in his mother’s place.
oh well. it has been a 5-week high here in germany. i doubt that that euphoria will be sustained til the nationalmannschaft battles for third place, but who knows? but i hope so. at any rate, i haven’t put away the german flag adorning my window. for me, it’s not about winning, it’s not even about football. it’s about seeing germans partying almost like the brazilians. if it takes a small piece of black-red-gold cloth to extend the party, then i’m more than willing to nail up the whole flat with flags.
meanwhile, while AnP goes to häagen dazs, i’m off to get a tub of ben&jerry’s.
update: lost, but nothing to be ashamed of. fifa website sums up the german papers’ heartwarming commentaries.

we’ve seen that the locals can do it. be outwardly friendly and happy, i mean. i sure hope that they do try to do the same even after the world cup.

the German team can be proud of what they have accomplished - that of hosting a great tournament, very organized and no reason to fear about security…and oh, of course, having to play for 3rd place too…not close to getting the World Cup, but still something to be proud of…
by the way, if you hang your Germany flag sideways, would it look like a Belgium flag?

junnie, true. they also often show behind-the-scenes on tv here, and the logistics involved in organizing such an event is just amazing. people are doubtful if south africa can equal that. as for the team, yes, considering how young the team is, getting this far is already something to be proud of.
the flag, no. the belgian has the yellow stripe in the middle. for germany, it’s red in the mddle.

sad!!! the more i look at the pictures, the stronger the urge for me to cry. ‘thought it will the year when “football’s coming home”. suddenly, i don’t feel like watching the finals anymore.
Kein Lust. (Which is bad, because some friends and i already paid for tickets in a viewing area in the city center. ick.)

Well, ganyan talaga ang buhay, may nanalo at may natatalo.
Actually Germany already won. Think about the business side of having Word Cup in German soil. That’s more than enough but it would have been sweeter if the Germans won the championship.
Double whammy sana.

chinita_jill: tickets to the finals?!? wowowee! kainggit!
myepinoy: in the end, it was great. htey landed third, and given the reception from the fans, even the players said they feel like they’ve won. businesses might have profited, yes, pero laki din ng investment ng germany in organizing this event, grabe!
jing: wag na si lehman. si ollie kahn na lang. chickboy daw yon, eh…
sachiko: sure, no prob!
