philippines, here we come!
in a couple of weeks, we’ll be off for a two-week holiday to the philippines, yippee! this is going to be our first trip back home since we moved to singapore. although jan and i visit the philippines almost yearly, this is just the second trip home we’re going to make as family. the last one was when jan celebrated his first birthday in… 2003! yikes!
we initially thought of going to baguio. an aunt of mine has flats for short-term rent there ( if you’re interested in renting, drop me a line and i’ll put you in touch!) where we could stay for free. transpo’s also solved; my sister has postponed selling her car so we can use it during our stay. from there, we thought of going further north along ilocos, passing by vigan, maybe stop in laoag before spending a few days in pagudpud.
but then i remembered that i’m pregnant, hehe. and yikes, will we manage the drive before jan drives us insane?
click, click, click, and just as luck would have it, i chanced upon cebu pacific’s P1 for Juan promo fares. we had to make the decision fast since there were just a few hours left before the promo ended.
flights booked. accommodations next. got any recommendations where to stay in… bohol?

Never been there, but I heard Nature Resort and Bohol Beach Club are nice. We’re planning to go there too, or Davao…

we’ve been to Bohol last December. It’s a beautiful place. We’re planning to visit Bohol again when PAL has their promo again.
I haven’t posted our adventures in Bohol coz I’m not done yet with the pictures. I’m having problems compiling them in Windows Movie Maker.
Are you planning to get a travel agent?
We stayed at Dumaluan Beach Resort, it’s affordable compared to Bohol Beach Club. You can also check Pinoy Exchange to know more about Bohol.
You’ll enjoy it there. Promise!

went to bohol on 2005 and stayed at alona beach area—but i wasn’t impressed with the beach. too stony and lots of fishing boats crowding the area. (tabi-tabi kasi yung restos)—the last full day we had, we asked a trike driver to bring us to a “nicer” beach and voila, dumaluan beach resort’s area was NICE/r! don’t know with accommodations but i loved the clearness of the water and powder-white sand. good luck with the search

Ruth, could you please email me the details of your aunt. This coming December, may alumni homecoming sa UP Baguio and we’re scouting places that are for rentals, etc. There will be plenty of alumni, like me, who will be interested in finding places to stay. Thanks!

hi ruth, i recommend bohol beach club. they have the best facilities in the island. just bring surfer’s shoes because some parts of the beach have coral stones. enjoy! i’m so green with envy.

thanks, girls! we do indeed plan on staying at dumaluan beach, prob on BBC. from what i’ve gleaned on websites and blogs, it seems more suitable for kids.
charl, my aunt is currently in the US, but i’ll ask my cousin for the details. it’s not in the city proper, though, mga around 15 min drive yata.

aba, nauna ka pa sa akin umuwi ng pinas, hahaha. maganda daw sa bohol beach club talaga. and okay sana yung drive sa ilocos kaso mo nga preggy ka tapos jan would be bored. we drove with the kids to la union, mabuti na lang may kasamang mga pinsan who got to play with them.. or else
have fun!

Ako ay dayuhan sa sariling bayan, never been to Bohol. Pero expert ako sa long drives hehe. Para hindi ma-bore si Jan sa byahe, magdala ka ng portable DVD and his fave movies, o kaya ay GB para may napapaglibangan siya. It works.
Have fun sa inyong trip!

Are you serious P1? Wow! Good for you that you are already near Philippines. It takes 24hr min travel for us. We would be jumping for joy if we get $700 per ticket.
Have fun and eat plenty of seafood for me

[…] the chunk of our holiday was spent in panglao island, bohol. i was able to take advantage of cebu pacific’s piso fare promotions, and after scouring the web for accommodation options, i’ve decided on booking us in bohol beach club. and i couldn’t have chosen any better. sure, there’s eskaya and ananyana for those whose prefer luxurious dwellings, but unfortunately, our pockets don’t go so deep. in bohol beach club, we had an awesome powdery white sand beach that was almost 2 km long, with shallow sandy waters that’s safe even for the most mischievous of kids (read: jan). the sprawling resort was so big we hardly felt the presence of other guests (although we were there on a lean season, there were batches of east asian tourists and company retreats). three restaurants plus a bar, three swimming pools, and the long beach for the exclusive use of the resort guests. the rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly (altho a tad bit slow sometimes), and the food was good. for those looking for a place in bohol that’s great value for money, i wouldn’t hesitate recommending the bohol beach club, particularly for families with small kids, and those who prefer peace and quiet to clubbing and nightlife. some of my favorite snapshots from bbc: […]
