when we were in germany, we had to buy a second dvd player that would play vcds and dvds from the philippines. by having a code “zero”, i thought it would play dvds from all regions. well, apparently not. it took a move here to singapore to find out that it won’t play locally bought dvds. arrgh.

oh well, at least, they sell multi-region dvds for peanuts nowadays. last weekend, we finally got one, and yes, so far, it’s playing all our dvds nicely. now we can finally apply for a video card from the rental shop round the corner.

why the heck are there region codes to dvd’s anyway? as if it’s not difficult enough to deal with plugs of different shapes and prongs when you relocate cross-continents.
