floored
when we first moved into our current flat, i loved the shine of the newly polished marble flooring. see, we had large ceramic tiles in the common areas of our previous flat, and while it was really low-maintenance, it kinda gives you the feeling you’re lounging and watching tv in your bathroom. so the marble floors (and parquet in the bedrooms) came as a pleasant change.
until i realized how difficult it was to maintain that polished shine. it was too late when i learned that spills and splatters from fruit juices and anything remotely acidic can easily leave etch marks on marble that apparently can only be removed by professional grinding and polishing. just two months after we moved in and our living areas are a nice mottled, speckled marble. ack!
any ideas for quick (and cheap) fixes?

my mom used baby bimpo soft cloth which she dipped in a pail of lukewarm water with “lactacyd” (the blue one) coz she said mild lang daw yon and won’t damage the top layer which eventually will eat through the stone. too bad lang i didn’t remember this tip to tell annalynn when cleaning our floor in boscombe so the stains which were being cleaned using strong floor cleaners in that house eventually became cracks and little holes and caused $$$ to have fixed. soon as ma-spillan, wipe with damp cloth agad then right away dry it. (yon nga lang, para kang anino nina mia/jan when they’re drinking hehe)

actually, cleaning is not a problem naman. i’m using a cleaning solution specially made for marble but it doesn’t get rid of the dull spots due to spills. they are not stains, more like parang nail polish na napatakan ng polish remover. am still looking how to restore the shine without having to call in the professionals…
