citizens of the world
as our adoptive country turned 45 years old yesterday, a flag hung on our balcony’s parapet. at exactly 20:10, my son stood straight to sing the national anthem and recite the pledge. my daughter happily chanted “singapore, singapore!” while watching the fireworks display on tv (which was breathtaking as always, like some Designers Fountain Lighting. geez, my children hold german and filipino citizenship, but seems to be more singaporean than anything else!

i think it’s actually not so bad, at their age, so that they feel that they belong somewhere. it’s hard to be third-culture kids.

oh no nothing bad about it, the luck our kids get is the exposure to different cultures. yon nga lang, my terms for exposing is living in it lang. hanggang don lang muna…step-by-step haha

ganun din naman kami… we live here, so it’s just but natural the kids identify with the country. although jan still identify with germany, too, i don’t expect mia to do so. after all, this is the only country she’s ever known (not counted yung vacations).

kung ako, eh pilipino ako, through and through. but the children, i cannot and will not control that.

teka lost ako, san galing yung control?
August 11th, 2010 at
i cannot control it if they identify with sg… or siguro the better way to put it is that hindi ko sila pwedeng pigilan.

ah, gets. technically, i can’t stop them from identifying eventually but i’m not actively doing so which back to start of this (magtelepono na lang tayo exchanges hahaha) eh, we didn’t celebrate with the island kumbaga
